Accident Policy
The University offers an accident insurance policy through an insurance company for students who pay a premium to receive coverage for contingencies. All students who are required to travel for their teaching practice or to represent the University in cultural, academic, or sporting events must be covered by this policy. Additionally, students with practical or sports-related subjects in their curriculum must also be insured under this policy.

Intended for the payment of housing leases or transportation for low-income undergraduate students. Requirements: Enrollment in at least 11 credits, no active disciplinary sanctions, and not exceeding the maximum number of academic periods allowed at the regional campus according to the corresponding study plan.

Assistantship

Assistantships involve support tasks that undergraduate students can perform in administrative offices.
Requirements: Completion of the first academic level, a GPA of at least 3.2, no other assistantship, and no disciplinary sanctions.
Payment: 1 minimum monthly legal wage (smmlv) per semester for 120 hours of work.

Distinguished Students

A discount of 25%, 50%, or 100% on the base tuition fee is applied to students who achieve the highest grade point average in their academic program.
SIBLING
Discount
.
When a parent has multiple children simultaneously enrolled in on-site or distance learning academic programs at any of the UIS regional or central campuses, the following discounts will be applied to the tuition fees:
- For two (2) children, 20%.
For three (3) or more children, 30%.
STIMULUS FOR
Sports Participation
.
This discount applies to students who participate in national sports events endorsed by ASCUNDEPORTES or the respective sports federations. Students who win a gold medal receive a 100% exemption from the base tuition fee, 90% for a silver medal, and 80% for a bronze medal. The exemption will be maintained as long as the student retains their sports recognition title.

Students who participate in electoral processes by voting receive a 10% discount on the base tuition fee.

This financial tuition reimbursement process allows students who present changes in their family’s socioeconomic dynamics to request a study of their urgent situation in order to obtain a temporary or definitive discount in the base tuition amount, or in certain cases, to change the settlement factor.

The Universidad Industrial de Santander has implemented its Gender Equity Policy and the Protocol for Addressing Gender-Based Violence, which aims to establish measures for care, assistance, monitoring, and referral of gender-based violence committed in any physical or virtual space, both within the Institution and outside it, in the context of institutional activities.
The protocol can be activated by the person who considers themselves a victim of gender-based violence or by a third party who, as a witness or having knowledge of an incident, wishes to report the case so that the victim may receive assistance. All members of the UIS community (students, administrative staff, and faculty) who have experienced gender-based violence are eligible for support.

SOCIAL WELFARE FOR
UIS Employees
.
In accordance with current regulations, the Superior Council established a social welfare system for UIS employees and their beneficiaries: spouse or permanent partner, and sons and daughters of UIS employees enrolled in undergraduate, academic, administrative, and social projection programs of the University.
The university grants a subsidy of 90% of the tuition and in return, the student agrees to work a total of 32 semester hours per semester in academic or administrative work according to the needs of the requesting academic administrative unit, without establishing any employment relationship.
